John Durkin.

Podiatrist

John qualified as a podiatrist in 1988 and started work for the NHS. For the past 20 years he has worked in private practice. John has just completed a Masters degree in podiatric surgery. For his dissertation, he studied runners and compared foot pressure between their different running styles. He found that changing your running style can greatly affect foot pressure and function.
John can treat a wide range of foot and leg conditions, specialising in sports injuries such as calf strain, Achilles tendinitis, shin splints, Runners knee and plantar fasciitis. Such conditions are treatable using needles in a modern form of acupuncture called dry needling. This treatment may be used along with orthoses and insoles, and combined with foot specific exercises. In severe cases, a steroid injection may be administered to the affected part of the foot and ankle.
Active Life Podiatry (ALP) recommend customised computer-aided design and manufactured (CAD-CAM) orthoses and insoles, which are manufactured through a specialist laboratory and are the gold-standard solution for the long term use of foot orthoses. However, as an alternative, ALP has a workshop which makes it quick and easy to make semi customised orthoses. We can also make adjustments and repairs to orthoses that you may already have.
John, married to Beth has 3 children, Millie, Jacob and Florence – and in his spare time likes to scuba dive and play golf.
