I see individuals, couples and small family groups seeking counselling and psychotherapy. I work within an integrative model drawing both on humanistic and psychodynamic practice which I will often support by using EMDR, if appropriate. I look to work with reference to what might have evolved within a client's earlier childhood relationships and experience (both conscious and unconscious) and how that relates to, and impacts on, the experience of living life today.
Clients often seek support at moments where they face great change in life, maybe feeling confused, shocked, distraught, lonely, bereft, guilty, humiliated and angry. The process of therapy provides a safe place to come to terms with losses; explore self defeating patterns, beliefs and behaviours; address anxiety or the roots of a depression; or maybe find a place of acceptance, empowerment and compassion as a partner, friend, parent, son, daughter or sibling. There are numerous motivations for therapy, and we would aim to work together towards wellbeing though change. I did my Foundation Level training in Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regents College and then gained a Masters Degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy at Roehampton. I hold additional trainings in: EMDR, EFT, Working with Addiction and Somatic Trauma Therapy. Previously, I have worked as a Primary Counsellor, Family Therapist and Group Facilitator in a private clinic, as a Therapist in both Private and NHS GP surgeries, as a Staff Counsellor in large organisations and as an Aftercare Counsellor on various drug and alcohol programs. I have also run groups for the Divorce Support Group and have written and run workshops on Addiction, Boundaries and Codependency. Currently I practice privately, seeing clients both in London, and Oxford. |
Rhys graduated with a BHSc (physiotherapy) in 1995 and went on to complete his PGDHSc (Manipulative Physiotherapy) in 1997. He travelled to London and has worked in London since 2000. His background is in private practice and he became an instructor with the McConnell institute in 2003. The 2 day courses he has taught have been on the McConnell knee and McConnell shoulder. He has taught these courses around the United Kingdom and in Norway.
To further his knowledge he developed a rehabilitation course for the knee and shoulder and these have also been taught in Norway. Rhys compliments his physiotherapy skills with acupuncture. He works by identifying the cause of pain and uses rehabilitation and manipulation for fast and prolonged pain relief. His interests include sports injuries, spinal injuries, post-operative physiotherapy, pregnancy and work-related pain. Clients can expect to be treated in a professional and friendly manner with a results-focused physiotherapy approach. |
